Founders’ Story:
We firmly believe that social engagement across all age groups and diverse communities is essential for both physical and mental well-being. This belief emanates from our personal experiences as hospice volunteers, where we witnessed firsthand the profound impact of human connection on residents who often lack regular family visits. Sharing moments and stories with these individuals brought visible joy to their faces, however, many residents said that they often felt socially isolated, with little opportunity to interact with others.
We discovered that while therapeutic interventions are emphasized in care facilities, the equally crucial aspect of social engagement is often overlooked. This neglect has significant consequences, as research indicates that social isolation can lead to increased risks of Alzheimer’s, Dementia, strokes, and heart disease. Motivated by these insights, we founded Comforting Connections, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to mitigating loneliness among the elderly in care facilities through meaningful interactions and enriching activities.
Our mission is to create opportunities for volunteers to build lasting bonds with residents, thereby enhancing the lives of both the volunteers and the residents they engage with. Join us in making a difference—one connection at a time.
